This guide is for language coaches: the Vocab tab and “Kept words” only appear for language students. Instead of retyping words later, you tap them in the chat as you teach.
It lands in “Kept words”: a tab beside Chat and Vocab during the call, a card on the lesson page before it. Drag across two or more words to keep a whole phrase, article and all: “une cave” rather than just “une”.
A stray tap adds nothing. Some things can't become a card (a bare article, a single letter), and you'll be told why.
Zoom and Meet lessons have no chat here, so type words into the “Keep a word or phrase…” box and press Keep. The box is on the built-in call too, for words that were said but not typed.
Keeping never asks for a translation. With AI assistance on, when you save the lesson's wrap-up each kept word without a meaning gets one, with an example sentence and a short note. A meaning you wrote yourself is never overwritten, and every card stays editable.
Paste words under “Add words”, one per line (“word — meaning” sets the meaning yourself; without one, AI adds it). Edit any card, or archive words they've outgrown. “Weakest first” sorts by what they're most likely to have forgotten, which makes a ready warm-up, and on a built-in call the lesson screen lists the shakiest few under “Words to review”.
Archiving keeps the review history, and “Show archived” brings those rows back into view.
They practice in rounds of up to 10 words to answer, plus up to 5 new words (newest lesson first, tagged “New”). Each card shows the meaning, they say the word, tap “Show answer”, then “Not yet” or “Got it”. Spaced repetition does the planning: a word they know comes back in weeks, a word they miss comes back in the same session.
A word without a meaning joins their flashcards once it has one.
Their words land on the same list, tagged with their name, and show on your lesson screen too. If they leave the meaning blank, AI writes one as they add it (this uses your AI budget). A word the AI can't find a meaning for isn't added.
